While packing up the cookies from Cookiefest Part 2 yesterday (I will blog it tonight/tomorrow) I decided to label a few items for specific gifts I was giving as well as some that Justin will be taking to work for some friends. I played around with my blank tags and washi tape and create some pretty neat tags. These are super easy and can be personalized as much as you want. So here is your DIY. I’m going to do it slightly different than last time with the PDF download-able here, as well as all the steps broken out right here for you! This place is full service!

Supplies you will need:
♥ Shipping tags with string (you can get these at any office supply store)
♥ Japanese washi tape – assorted colors (you can get it online, on etsy and in some paper shops)
♥ Pinking shears (available at every fabric store)
♥ Pens! (also stamps, glitter, stickers, or anything else you want to put on these)

Select your colors of washi tape (I recommend 2-3 colors, but will show 2 for the tutorial).

Take one of the tags and add your first color of tape. Wrap the top edge of the tape over the back of the tag. If you’re really concerned about how it looks on the back you can trim it to be flush at the top, but I think the torn edges are charming and more handmade looking.

Add your second and third (if you are using three) pieces of tape. I usually go horizontal or diagonal. Don’t worry if they overlap oddly at the bottom as you will be trimming that with pinking shears anyhow. You can place your third strip, if you are using three colors, at a diagonal and it looks pretty cool, just leave yourself enough room to write on the tag.

Trim at about the bottom 1/3 of your horizontal tape, or even below it if you want. This gives it an interesting edge and snips off the bottom bits of the tape if you think they look funky.

Now you just need to add any embellishments you want to and write who it’s for or what it contains are you are done!

You can attach it to the gift by tying it to the ribbon or string, or by taping it to the gift with a little of your washi tape. I used both methods and for the ones where I taped them I used one of the colors from the tag so it’s all matching.
